Ohhhh my days. This. This is the one, are you ready for it? GET YOUR PANS READY CAUSE IT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!
As you may have guessed from the title, these pancakes are not healthy… If you’re not one for indulging and going all out – turn back now. If you’re looking for a naughty recipe to make your taste buds sing you came to the right place.
Now I know a lot of people aren’t too fond of thick American style pancakes and you know what… It’s ok to be wrong sometimes. Nah I joke, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a crêpe with lemon and sugar as does my fiancée, but I’m fairly sure I’ve turned her to the dark side, after all, pancake day only comes once a year, so you may as well go all out right?
Oozing with caramel, dripping with Nutella, this recipe is so easy and has been tried and tested to be a fan favourite amongst my friends and family. I cannot express just how tasty this recipe is, do yourself a favour make it.
- 200g self raising flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 300ml milk
- 1tbsp butter (melted)
- 1tsp Vanilla Paste
- 1tbsp Nutella
- 1tbsp Salted Caramel (I used Tesco Finest – found in the baking aisle)
- 1 Banana – Sliced
- Handful of Walnuts
Sift the dry ingredients together into a mixing bowl then make a well in the middle, crack in the egg then whisk until you have a thick paste
In a separate bowl mix the melted butter together with the milk and vanilla paste
Whisk the milk into the egg and flour until fully combined with no lumps.
Grease a frying pan and place over a medium heat
Ladle the mixture into the pan and brown on both sides – roughly 90 seconds each side. Make sure you control the temperature and don’t let it get too hot.
Stack the pancakes on a plate with bananas and nuts in between each one then drizzle the salted caramel and nutella over the top. Scatter a few more nuts and slices of bananas on the top then… Witness the fitness of this recipe.

Seriously guys, give this a go, even if you’re not a fan of American style thick pancakes, these ones come out SO light and fluffy. I promise you, you will never look back.
